David did not always have it easy in his walk with God and he often brought his difficulties and distress to Him. In Psalms 22:6, he declared “I am a worm”, expressing his sense of abandonment, helplessness and pain.
Some Christians feel it is not right to say “unpleasant” things to God. We just accept the reality quietly and keep the unspoken feelings bottled up. But we can learn from David – he was very real with God; not afraid to bare his truest feelings.
David said in Psalm 139:1-4 – “you have looked deep into my heart … you know all about me…before I speak a word, you know what I will say”. Then why did he still voice his angst and grief to God?
When we call God Abba Father, we can go to Him for anything and everything. This includes pouring out our heart and be utterly honest with our heavenly Father. It’s part of the relationship. It’s part of the healing process. And it is indeed good for the soul.
