It’s rather unusual to read in Luke 21:1-4 where Jesus commended a widow who gave two very small copper coins instead of the other rich people who gave a lot more. He said “ Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more into the treasury than all the others.”
Jesus was not unappreciative of the rich people’s offerings. He was simply teaching a deeper truth – it’s easier to give out of wealth but so much more difficult to give out of poverty. The widow gave all she had to live on which reflects her devotion and true sacrifice.
Often great appreciation is accorded to folks who are generous in their donations / offerings but in this story, Jesus teaches us that sometimes those who give little deserves greater honour as little is more, a lot more.
