Goliath was naturally confident of victory when he faced the Israelites. And rightly so. In his worldly thinking, he had everything that made him unbeatable – his size, strength and weapons. ( 1Samuel 17 )
But David understood God’s ways and believed God could help him win even with a stone and a sling. Psalm 20:7 – Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God – aptly describes how David won the fight.
Our education and experience train our mind with a worldly perspective but as Christians, we must also possess godly thinking. Godly thinking is about knowing, believing and engaging God in our endeavours and is cultivated by a close relationship with God. Goliath relied on himself and his earthly weapons but David had divine and supernatural help. So don’t think like Goliath – be like David , a giant slayer!
