Who would pray and sing hymns in the middle of the night after being severely beaten and chained inside jail? Paul and Silas did exactly that in Acts 16:16-36. Their gloomy situation did not deter them – they simply see God changing their place of ministry!
And God showed up in such a marvellous way – there was an earth-shaking jail break and the salvation of the jailer and his entire household!
Very often, Paul did not allow gloom to weigh him down. The book of Philippians was written by Paul when he was in prison. It is called the “Epistle of Joy” because of his message of finding joy amidst trials and suffering.
Paul is like a flower that blooms in a dry, hard terrain. Let us remember his experience and trust that God can make something beautiful out of a difficult situation.
